چکیده

Total anomalous pulmonary venous connexion may be conveniently classified into supradiaphragmatic and infradiaphragmatic types (Smith, Frye, and Newton, I96I). Infradiaphragmatic forms are usually associated with obstruction to pulmonary venous flow (Johnson et al., I958) and the supradiaphragmatic types are said only rarely to have pulmonary venous obstruction (Lucas et al., I963). However, obstruction to pulmonary blood flow has been described in the latter type and lately increasing attention has been given to this factor. The purpose of this report is to document an unusual type of obstruction to pulmonary venous blood flow in a case of supradiaphragmatic total anomalous pulmonary venous connexion. The possible embryological origin of this defect and the types of obstruction seen in the supradiaphragmatic form will also be discussed.

Partial anomalous pulmonary venous connection to the superior vena cava.

BACKGROUND Repair of partial anomalous pulmonary venous connection (PAPVC) to the high portion of the superior vena cava (SVC) may be complicated by atrial arrhythmia and obstruction of the pulmonary veins or SVC. We reviewed our experience with the modified Warden technique, in which the SVC was transected and anastomosed to the right atrial appendage with anterior augmentation of pedicled aut...

Anomalous Inferior Vena Cava Draining into the Left Atrium Associated with Intact Interatrial Septum and Multiple Pulmonary Arteriovenous Fistulae.

CONGENITAL cardiac defects involving the venous return to the heart and those affecting the partitioning of the atria should probably be considered as a group. The most commonly encountered and simplest to correct are defects in the interatrial septum of the ostium secundum type. Due to the lower resistance to emptying into the right ventricle from the two communicating atria, the shunt in such...

Severe pulmonary arterial hypertension in an adult patient with total anomalous pulmonary venous connection operated in infancy.

The goal of total anomalous pulmonary venous connection repair is to obtain an unobstructed communication between the pulmonary veins and the left atrium and removing intracardiac shunting. However, pulmonary venous obstruction orstenosis may be seen in 5-10% of patients, is usually evident in the first 6 months following surgery and may lead to pulmonary congestion, pulmonary arterial hyperten...
